Football pundit unimpressed with Chelsea star following big money move to the Bridge

Craig Burley believes Mykhaylo Mudryk has been disappointing so far at Chelsea

Craig Burley isn’t impressed by Chelsea forward Mykhaylo Mudryk and his performances since moving to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window.

This season, the Premier League saw numerous top-flight clubs spend big money to improve their rosters. It is estimated that £2.5 billion was spent on player acquisition. Chelsea was among the top spenders during both transfer windows, splashing £323 million in the winter transfer window after having spent £270 million in the summer.

Enzo Fernandez and Joao Felix are two of the few Chelsea players who have been able to demonstrate their talent the best. The rest haven’t quite hit the ground running.

According to Burley, Mudryk is amongst those who have not contributed much. The 22-year-old had a promising debut game at Anfield but has failed to push on.

In six Premier League appearances for the west London team, Mudryk has only directly assisted one goal, helping Chelsea defeat Leicester City 3-1. And when asked which significant signing had disappointed him (h/t Football.London), Craig told ESPN:

“Mudryk it has to be, I’m not a big fan of Antony, and Richarlison has been hot and cold; he’s not always had game time, Conte hasn’t always played him.”

Burley also drew comparisons to fellow Premier League recruits Richarlison and Antony. The former has struggled to impress at Tottenham Hotspur while the latter is inconsistent for Manchester United.

All three situations are unlike one another. The Blues were in a difficult situation with inconsistent performance and results when Mudryk arrived in January. Tottenham Hotspur started the season strongly but have since been struggling. Nevertheless, Manchester United have made good progress under Erik Ten Hag but Antony has had few moments to shine.

Whereas Richarlison is already a Premier League player, so it shouldn’t have been too complicated for him to integrate into a new team; he has only four assists in 18 league games. Antony, who was signed last summer and has just three goals in 14 league outings, a decent record but far from impressive.

More Chelsea News:

Mudryk’s circumstance is significantly different from theirs; he joined the club during a period of uncertainty that is still present, but he has a natural talent and he will soon burst onto the scene.
