“He’s primed to disappear into the Middle East”- Chelsea’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang slammed for joining Barcelona celebrations

Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang labelled a disgrace after Barcelona celebrations

Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was seen celebrating with his former Barcelona teammates after the club’s victory over Real Madrid on Sunday night. With the late strike from Franck Kessie, Barcelona triumphed 2-1 and moved 12 points ahead of Los Blancos in the league table.

Since joining Chelsea, Aubameyang has seen less action as Graham Potter has favoured using Kai Havertz as a striker, which has left the former Arsenal player dissatisfied with his little playing time. The 33-year-old has only made 12 Premier League appearances and hasn’t started a game since February.

In an effort to solve their goal-scoring issues, Chelsea paid Barcelona £12 million for the Gabonese striker last summer, but the move has not been successful.

Aubameyang had the possibility of departing from Chelsea on loan, but he declined to join Los Angeles FC in the January transfer window.

The 33-year-old has also made it obvious that he is considering leaving the club, He was on the brink of leaving the club in January, but FIFA regulations prevented it. The former Arsenal player’s contract still has one year left (Transfermarkt), but it’s unlikely that he will remain at the club next season.

His reputation in SW6 will take a further hit if the club’s fans resonate with what Liverpool icon Stan Collymore had to say about his antics. Writing in his exclusive CaughtOffside column, Collymore labeled the former Borussia Dortmund forward a ‘disgrace’ and remarked:

“It’s shambolic. A lot of younger fans will say ‘what’s the problem?’ – but it’s not right. This is an elite-level competitive sport – you do not cross certain boundaries and celebrating another team’s victory inside their dressing room is an absolute no-no.

“…He’s a Chelsea player so while he’s there, he should be coming across as blue through and through but he doesn’t. He doesn’t really stand for anything, he’s ubiquitous. He’s primed to disappear into the Middle East and Graham Potter will probably be thanking his lucky stars.”

ITo be honest, it doesn’t seem good for a player to celebrate another club’s success with them, when he is still part of the club and we understand his displeasure for not getting enough action, but he is still a Chelsea player and should adhere to the club’s regulations and fight for his place.

Even if Barcelona don’t compete in the Premier League, he should not celebrate their achievement, despite being their former player. It sends a wrong message that his allegiance and affiliations lie elsewhere. To celebrate from the stands or in the living room is one thing. This is different.

Terminating his contract wouldn’t be a good idea because we need a striker. The Blues can still utilise the former Borussia Dortmund striker as a backup number nine until the end of the season. And moreover, such a stark punishment doesn’t seem warranted.

He should, however, be given a talking-to by the club’s management. He isn’t part of our plans to a big extent right now but we still pay his weekly wages. If he has a desire to move back to Barcelona, then so be it. Such tricks to win them over, however, shouldn’t sit right with our fanbase.
