Chelsea eye rival London-based midfielder to replace contract rebel’s potential exit

Chelsea looking to sign Andreas Pereira to replace Mason Mount

According to ESPN, Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira is now a target for Chelsea as a potential Mason Mount replacement in the summer transfer window.

Mount’s likelihood of leaving the club is increasing as contract negotiations between the club and the midfielder have so far failed to produce a favourable result. Moreover, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Liverpool are keeping an eye on matters, the Englishman has no shortage of options should he decide to move on.

The 27-year-old midfielder has shown excellent form for Fulham, and it is thought that while he is content there, a summer transfer to a big European team is conceivable.

Moreover, he has a deal at Craven Cottage through 2026 with an additional year option (h/t Transfermarkt), and his market worth is between £25 million and £35 million.

The Brazilian international is also having a productive season with Fulham, having scored two goals and registered six assists in 27 games for them. Meanwhile, The England international has not appeared for Chelsea since its 2-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur on February 26.

He even hired a new agent to manage his future amid rumours that he wanted to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer as his contract negotiations became increasingly concerning.

Given that he is 27 years old and has extensive experience as an offensive midfielder, the Brazilian midfielder would be a fantastic replacement if Mount does decide to leave and we are successful in signing him. And he has prior Premier League experience from his time playing for Manchester United and now is an important player for Fulham.

Chelsea can offer Pereira a shot at redemption following his struggles at Old Trafford. A late bloomer, he is still to hit his prime and has shown the ability to thrive in the right setup. Whether Stamford Bridge will be that place remains to be seen.
