Chelsea believe Dominik Szoboszlai is the perfect Mason Mount replacement
Chelsea, who could lose Mason Mount, have already found his successor. Dominik Szoboszlai has emerged as an alternative for the England international, according to Blues director Christopher Vivell.
Moreover, transfer analyst Ben Jacobs claims (h/t Express) that Vivell is a massive admirer of Szoboszlai and would want to buy him. Vivell previously oversaw RB Leipzig’s recruitment efforts across all age categories.
In the summer, Chelsea will probably give other areas more priority, but it’s noteworthy that Vivell loves Szoboszlai, which suggests that this is a player to watch in the future. The Leipzig star, who can play in any position, has made an impression while playing in Germany and could be transferred to Stamford Bridge.
The 22-year-old RB Leipzig player is enjoying a stellar season in the Bundesliga, contributing four goals and eight assists in 21 games. With only 18 months remaining on his current Chelsea contract (Transfermarkt), Mount has been unwilling to extend it due to the demand for high wages.
If Chelsea are to make his signing in the summer, it’s unclear how the Hungarian will integrate into the squad as we already have Raheem Sterling, Christian Pulisic, and Mykhaylo Mudryk for that position.
Szoboszlai is a great, versatile player who can play as a wide No. 10 or an inverted winger, depending on our system of play. He could be the team’s facilitator in pre-modern times, hovering in midfield.
Additionally, given that we already have players that play in his position, it will be absurd for us to sign him and then not use him. Being only 22, it will simply be a waste of his potential.
But if we are releasing a couple of our players this summer, we might think about signing him because of his strong performance in the Bundesliga this year.

But, it is unclear if Todd Boehly would want to sign him given that our top priorities for the summer transfer window are a central midfielder, as well as a defender and striker.
