William Gallas chastises Chelsea star Marc Cucurella who struggled against West Ham United
Chelsea endured another lacklustre game and had to settle for a stalemate against West Ham United at the weekend, a clash in which Marc Cucurella among others garnered little sympathy for their performances.
Many players had the chance to shine, but Joao Felix and Enzo Fernandez stood out for contributing to Chelsea’s goals. Cucurella was among the players who had a disappointing performance in the game.
However, the club even came close to finding a winning goal many times but the lack of cutting-edge in front of the net saw them settle for a point. The former Brighton Hove & Albion player received harsh criticism for his performance, and several fans even voiced their displeasure.
And William Gallas was enraged by Cucurella’s performance and thought he had little to contribute to the contest. Gallas, in an interview with Genting Casino (via Merto.UK), complimented Fernandez’s performance but felt Cucurella could have performed better.
“Enzo Fernandes looks good; he has great qualities. His passes are perfect, and he always looks forward. He got a nice assist for Felix in the game.”
“Marc Cucurella didn’t do anything of note in the game, in my opinion. Chilwell came on and, in the 25 minutes he played, he did more than Cucurella. Chelsea still have somewhat of a problem on the left side, and that is where the West Ham goal came from.”
The 24-year-old also appeared to have neglected or not even noticed Mykhaylo Mudryk despite the Ukrainian’s numerous runs. More so, he was also caught out of position while the Hammers attacked his flank. And the Spaniard even failed to stop the cross that resulted in a goal for West Ham, while offensively as well his influence was minimal.
Chelsea were repeatedly taken advantage of from the left side as the former Brighton defender missed marking the opposition players. Hopefully, things improve in the games to come.

The team will need to find a solution for their left-back situation because the Spaniard does not appear to be performing to his potential. Graham Potter will need to decide whether to play BenChilwell or Cucurella in their match against Borussia Dortmund.
Cucurella must make reparations in Chelsea’s future games because he will soon be shown the departure doors if he doesn’t.
