Thiago Silva calls for patience following Chelsea transfer outlay
Thiago Silva has called for patience as Chelsea go about their rebuild of the playing roster. Several players have been brought in of late as Todd Boehly aims to get the side ready for continued success.
The club spent £300 million last month, and the majority of those were on youngsters. Silva feels they will take time to gel and the demand for instant results may put pressure on them.
As the club was beset by injuries, Todd Boehly purchased David Datro Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Andrey Santos, Joao Felix (on loan), Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, Malo Gusto, and Enzo Fernandez in January. With the exception of Santos, who was with Brazil after their Copa America U20 victory against Uruguay, all of them have made their debuts for the Blues.
After joining Chelsea in 2020, the former Paris Saint-Germain defender knows what it takes to establish himself as a household name for the team. He is currently one of the longest-tenured players at Stamford Bridge. Recently, the 38-year-old agreed to a new contract with the Blues that will keep him with the team through 2024, (Transfermarkt).
The Brazilian defender remarked in an interview with Parimatch Blog (via Football.London) that young people will undoubtedly adjust, but it will take time:
“Of course, when new players arrive, the chemistry isn’t always the best at the beginning. “It takes time.”
The Brazilian defender was right on the mark when he said that our young players need time to develop into their best selves at Chelsea. He will be essential in helping youngsters adopt a positive mentality and give their heart and soul in games.
Additionally, in football, there are always great expectations when an expensive signing is made since fans expect him to live up to his price tag. While Joao Felix and Enzo Fernandez are sufficiently experienced, there are others who would want their support in adjusting to life in London.
