Real Madrid are interested in signing Chelsea star Christian Pulisic next summer
Given the extensive recruitment of young players at Chelsea in the January transfer window, Real Madrid target Christian Pulisic could find himself holding the short end of the stick.
Defensa Central via 90min (h/t Caught Offside) reports that Real Madrid are keen on acquiring Pulisic as a legitimate target for the summer transfer period. The American international could gradually lose his spot after the club spent heavily on new players under new owner Todd Boehly.
Pulisic could find it challenging to push for greater playing time given the signings of Mykhaylo Mudryk, Joao Felix, and Noni Madueke, as these are enough backup options for Graham Potter to play at the 24-year-old position.
The former Borussia Dortmund player has underperformed despite making 16 appearances, and Potter also appears to lose all faith in the 24-year-old.
Real Madrid’s rival club Atletico Madrid, have also shown interest in acquiring Pulisic during the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Blues attempted to sell a former Dortmund player in January, but no suitors showed an interest.
Furthermore, given that Chelsea have numerous backup options, it would make sense for the player to leave the team. In a Chelsea jersey, Pulisic has shown flashes of brilliance, but they are not frequently sufficient for him to earn a permanent starting spot. After a promising World Cup campaign, Pulisic was assumed to be back in form, but this was not the reality as he has failed to push on at Chelsea.
Nonetheless, the Los Blancos believe that buying Pulisic for a modest price could be a brilliant option because they lack a substitute for Vinicius Jr.
The American international will also get a considerable amount of playing time where he can revive his career, as he is just 24.
