A View From The Bridge

“No decision to make”- January signing reveals confidence in Chelsea project

Noni Madueke reveals how it was for him to sign for Chelsea

Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Football.London), Noni Madueke revealed how it easy for him to decide on making a move to Chelsea in the January transfer window.

In the third week of January, Chelsea completed a £29m move to sign Madueke from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven. The winger was a young player at Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur before going to the Netherlands and doing well there.

The 20-year-old has only made three appearances so far for the Blues, not tasting a victory yet. It is tough for anyone given our form of two wins in the last 15 league games.

Here’s what Madueke said when asked about his decision to join Chelsea (h/t Football.London):

“There was never any doubt to be honest. It is the biggest club in London and one of the biggest in the world – it’s an exciting project and I know I am not the finished article, but I feel deep I know I will succeed.

“I think for a lot of players they go through the decision-making process, but for me, it was no decision to make. I wanted to come home, I wanted to come back home, and what better club to do it than if you are from London. It was a no-brainer, I said alright cool, I got what I could, got a haircut and then went to the airport.”

Well, Madueke knows the truth, doesn’t he? Chelsea are the biggest club in England when it comes to the reach of the fanbase and the amount of success tasted in every competition in England and around Europe. No one in the capital comes close.

But, we also have to accept the fact that the Blues are playing some mediocre football this season. We are 10th in the table, 14 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, our London rivals.

The other big rival, Arsenal, is leading the league at the moment. So, this is the time to stay humble and accept the fact that teams are doing better than us in the same city.

Reports suggest that Graham Potter is under pressure following the defeat to Spurs. It is revealed that the manager has two games to save his job, one of them being the second leg of the Champions League tie against Borussia Dortmund.

More Chelsea News:

Madueke is a young player with top potential. It remains to be seen whether he continues to play under Potter and have a new manager soon.
