Jorginho says Mikel Arteta reminds him of former Chelsea manager

Jorginho feels Mikel Arteta and Maurizio Sarri share similarities as they operate in a similar fashion

New Arsenal acquisition Jorginho acknowledges that Mikel Arteta reminds him of Maurizio Sarri because he believes both managers have similar management styles.

After three games with the Gunners, the 31-year-old who signed on the final day of the January transfer window has made an impression.

Todd Boehly signed multiple young players, and Jorginho was informed that the midfielder was not a cornerstone of Chelsea’s new project, as he realised his time at the club was over.

The Italian international was convinced to try his luck with a new club after an offer from Arsenal on the final day of the season came knocking.

Since then, the 31-year-old Champions League winner has talked about life under Arteta’s leadership at Arsenal and acknowledged that there are some connections between the Spaniard and former Chelsea and Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri.

Jorginho is familiar with Sarri’s methods because they initially worked at Napoli in 2015 before rejoining Chelsea in 2018.

Speaking to BeIN Sport, (h/t Mirror.UK), the former Napoli midfielder refused to shy away from admitting that Arteta and Sarri have a similar approach towards their management style, saying:

“He [Arteta] reminds me a little bit of Sarri. I am used to working with a manager who looks into the details. For me, details make the difference in the end between a good team and a winning team.”

Former Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri

Chelsea were one of the competitive sides under Sarri, the 63-year-old was a top manager who helped Chelsea temporarily regain their lost reputation by guiding the Blues to a Europa League triumph in the 2018–19 season.

Moreover, he was renowned for his employment of a strong defensive line and a zonal marking method, both of which carry a significant level of risk due to their use in offside traps.
