“That’s what we have to work with”- Potter gives reality check to Chelsea fans after West Ham draw

Graham Potter issues Champions League judgement and a warning to Chelsea fans

Graham Potter is hoping the club returns to form soon, as they resume their Champions League campaign in the coming week against Borussia Dortmund.

Since taking over as Chelsea’s manager to succeed Thomas Tuchel, Potter hasn’t been able to make a name for himself or help the team win matches.

He did, however, have a few victories, but they were swiftly forgotten as Chelsea went through a nightmare losing streak.

Potter says new signings are still a work in progress.

This infuriated Chelsea supporters, who called for his dismissal. However, Potter believes he can still improve the situation now that over half of the injured players have returned. The team is still a couple of players short of being at full strength for the club.

Potter expressed his opinion (h/t Football.London), that the club’s new additions are still a work in progress during the news conference, as he said:

“[The] second half is probably more of a reflection of where we are as a group and as a team. In terms of players getting up to speed, returning from injury, and players adapting to the Premier League, that’s the work in progress; that’s what we have to work with, but it was a step forward overall from the previous game.”

With eight recent additions, Potter finally had the chance to field a competitive lineup against West Ham.

Benoit Badiashile, Enzo Fernandez, Noni Madueke, and Mykhailo Mudryk were all chosen for the starting lineup in addition to Felix, who obviously scored the goal for the Blues.

Felix and Fernandez were the standout players, while others demonstrated their professionalism and the implications they can have in future matches.

Madueke and Mudryk both had their time to shine and prove their worth, if they have more confidence, they will undoubtedly have a big impact on the matches.

Meanwhile, Badiashile was able to support Thiago Silva but should have been more meticulous during West Ham United’s goal.

They will, however, require Potter’s direction to blossom into top players as each game goes by, and their mentality will undoubtedly increase as well.
