Graham Potter will hope to get a positive result when Chelsea play Tottenham Hotspur
On Sunday at noon, Chelsea will make the trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in an effort to turn around their recent string of disappointing performances under Graham Potter.
During the pre-match news conference, the 47-year-old also provided an update on the Blues’ current injured players and gave positive news to Chelsea fans.
Christian Pulisic and N’Golo Kante, whose ailments were brought up by the 47-year-old, will be further incorporated into Chelsea’s training next week after playing a minor role with the first team in the lead-up to Tottenham.
The duo, along with Cesar Azpilicueta, who was injured against Southampton, are still uncertain about their returns and will join full training next week. The Chelsea captain was taken to the hospital after the incident, but was later freed and even attended a training session at Cobham.
The right-back will now go through a variety of procedures before being permitted to go back to the training field.
The medical staff cautioned Potter that playing against Southampton could put Thiago Silva, Reece James, Mykhaylo Mudryk, and Raheem Sterling at risk for injuries. However, Mudryk appeared briefly as a substitute in their 1-0 loss to the Saints. And now the 47-year-old will have all the players at his disposal.
Speaking to the media (h/t Football.London), Potter gave some positive updates on Chelsea’s current injuries, as he said:
“We’ve had a good week’s training; everyone is pretty much available apart from N’Golo [Kante] and Christian Pulisic.” They are making progress by joining the warm-ups, and they will be more integrated next week. “So that is good.”
With players coming back, our squad’s depth is also growing, giving Potter more players to utilise in matches. He can attempt to introduce fresh legs into the game, which will be crucial because they will give it more vigour.
