Pundit believes two Chelsea stars will hamper the club’s chances against Tottenham

Chelsea told not to start Mykhaylo Mudryk and Noki Madueke if they want to win vs Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea will face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday at noon, and Graham Potter will be under great pressure to once again try to eke out a victory.

He’ll be counting on fielding a potent XI to defeat Spurs. however In order to defeat Tottenham, Paul Merson thinks Potter should not play Mykhaylo Mudryk and Noni Madueke. Merson believes that if he plays both of them, the team could lose to the North Londoners because they are not an upgrade over the talent that was previously at Stamford Bridge.

Noni Madueke has been decent for Chelsea so far.

Nonetheless, it is clear that Madueke has performed decently whereas Mudryk has struggled since his signing in the January transfer window. In an interview with Sportskeeda (h/t Evening Standard), Merson was eager to point out who at Chelsea has left a mark and who hasn’t, as he said:

“This is one of Chelsea’s biggest games of the season. “These are two teams that do not like each other. If this team plays, they will beat Tottenham 3-0. If he plays Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke, they won’t beat Spurs.”

The former Arsenal midfielder has a right to his judgement, but it is not his place to decide who should or shouldn’t play. Potter certainly has a better idea of how to use the players at his disposal.

Chelsea record signing Mykhaylo Mudryk has not hit top gear.

Potter must make a decision that is best for the squad. Madueke and Mudryk are both outstanding players. We invested well in both the young wingers in January, and that would have been done for a reason.

A new player may need some time to settle in and begin living up to expectations with his new team. Similarly, Mudryk and Noni will also need time to adjust to Chelsea because they are in their 20s, and the former Swansea manager knows how to get the best out of them as he previously managed many youngsters at Brighton Hove & Albion.

More Chelsea News:

It isn’t the smartest call from Merson to straightaway say that we won’t beat Spurs if we start both the youngsters. Of course, they aren’t as experienced and could be naive when it comes to playing in the biggest derbies, but they both have traits that can also work in our favour if they are on song.

The pacey, tricky wingers should play a part against the Lilywhites, be it from the bench. We did not invest a combined £123m on them in January just to be scared to play them in the biggest matches.
