According to the Telegraph, Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set to fight for his place in the team rather than moving to the Major League Soccer (MLS) in the USA.

Aubameyang’s future at Stamford Bridge has naturally come under scanner following the news that he is dropped from the club’s Champions League squad for the remainder of this season.

The former Arsenal striker, who arrived from Barcelona last summer on a three-year deal, has had a tough first season with Chelsea. He has scored only three goals in 17 appearances in all competitions for the Blues so far.

European giants Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan are all interested in buying in the coming summer. Although the 33-year-old is aware of the interest from these clubs, his current focus is to work hard and fight for his place in the Chelsea Premier League side.

Speaking in the press conference ahead of the West Ham United game, Blues boss Graham Potter praised the attitude shown by Aubameyang and backs him to come good for the team in the remainder of this season.

It is good to see the Gabonese superstar blocking out the possible negative thoughts that may have blasted into his mind post-expulsion from the Champions League.

Perhaps, he may see himself playing football in a league which is superior to the MLS. The latter tends to be called a retirement league for the top European players.

For Chelsea, this is good news. Even though he hasn’t pulled up any trees so far, the team needs a striker to be in form for the rest of this season. Aubameyang could be that man.

More Chelsea News:

Despite spending the big money in January, the club did not buy a proven striker. They might have to rely on the 33-year-old to produce the goals required to take them up the table.
