Chelsea offer Mason Mount to Atletico Madrid in swap deal for Joao Felix
Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have been offered Mason Mount by Chelsea as a part of the swap deal to sign Joao Felix on a permanent basis, according to Marca (h/t football.london).
The Blues signed the Portugal international in the previous transfer window on loan until the end of the season. However, the Stamford Bridge side are looking to entice Los Rojiblancos to part ways with the 23-year-old completely next summer.
To that end, the West London club are open to letting the England international join the La Liga outfit. The 24-year-old’s current contract expires in the summer of 2024.
However, Chelsea are yet to agree new terms with Mount due to his salary demands. As a result, the midfielder’s high wages could also deter Atletico from taking him to the Metropolitano Stadium.
But the England international is attracting interest from within the Premier League as well. Liverpool are monitoring the playmaker’s situation at the Stamford Bridge side.
Mount made his way through the youth ranks at the Blues. After spending some time out on loan, he established himself in the West London club’s first team under Frank Lampard.
Over the years, the 24-year-old has been a key player for Chelsea. However, since last season, the midfielder has been a bit underwhelming. In recent weeks, the England international has also lost his place in the starting lineup.
On the other hand, Felix has been a breath of fresh air in the Blues’ attack. While the Stamford Bridge side have not seen a massive upturn in their results, the Portuguese has impressed many with his displays,

Therefore, it would be wise to sign the 23-year-old from Atletico next summer. However, will Mount want to leave his boyhood club and go to Spain? Only time will tell.
