Thiago Silva blasts Brazilian media for criticising Chelsea teammate after Borussia Dortmund loss

Chelsea veteran Thiago Silva was upset after Enzo Fernandez was slammed by Brazilian media

The Brazilian media have come under fire from Chelsea player Thiago Silva for their coverage of record acquisition Enzo Fernandez’s Champions League performance.

Brazilian publications made fun of the £107 million acquisition for his part in Wednesday’s 1-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund for the Blues.

On the final day of the transfer window, Chelsea ultimately wrested Fernandez, 21, away from Benfica for a British-record sum. Only six months earlier, the Portuguese behemoths purchased the midfielder for £10 million from River Plate.

Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea.

Fernandez has adjusted nicely to life at Chelsea and has performed admirably in his first two Premier League games. The World Cup winner, nevertheless, struggled against Dortmund.

Karim Adeyemi was able to effortlessly dribble by him before Kepa Arrizabalaga could stop him and score the game’s lone goal for Dortmund. And the Brazilian media enjoyed reading about the Argentine star’s problems.

regardless of the goal the Argentine had an immense impact from midfield and also registered a shot on target but his performance was marred by his inability to stop the goal.

Fernandez was not able to match Adeyemi which led to opposition and other trolling and TNT Sport’s Brazilian outlet posted (h/t Express.UK),

Silva slams Brazil media for making fun of Fernandez.

“CALL THE UBER FI! Enzo Fernandez is looking for Adeyemi so far.”

This made the 38-year-old furious, and the defender was quick to call out the media for trolling him, as he also posted:

“lack of respect. Lack of f****** respect, huh? “Be more serious with your work.”

It was great to see our teammates supporting one another because these trolls undermine the players’ motivation and harm their mental health. It’s even better to see such comradery considering Enzo plays for Argentina, who are Brazil’s biggest footballing rivals.

The 22-year-old has impressed everyone with how much help he can provide from the middle of the park since his debut.

He may not be the quickest player in the world but Adeyemi’s quick feet and acceleration were something not many players in world football would have managed to deal with at that moment. Fernandez was focussed on holding his ground and preventing the German striker from going past him.

Had he started running and predicted Adeyemi bursting past him, he could have caught up to him.
