Chelsea are yet to open talks with Joao Felix for a permanent deal
According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano for CaughtOffside (h/t Football.London), Chelsea are yet to open talks with Joao Felix regarding the possibility of making his stay permanent at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea signed the Portuguese international on loan from Atletico Madrid for the remainder of this season. The Spanish side extended his contract by a year just before letting him go to west London.
Felix’s loan deal with the Blues does not include an option or obligation to buy. Hence, the club does not have to act on making his stay a permanent one here.
However, given the fact that the former Benfica star has done well in the few appearances so far, there might be a temptation from Graham Potter and his staff to keep him beyond this season.
A week ago, Evening Standard reported that if Chelsea were to make a move for Felix in the summer, he would cost around £70-80m, despite reports in Spain suggesting that the player has a clause of £124m sale.
Even though the Blues have drawn one and lost three games out of the four the 23-year-old has played for us so far, he has been one of the best players in the team. His goal against West Ham United was a good one as well.
The quality Felix has on the ball and impacting in the final third is at the top level. In a Potter system, he could be the perfect number 10 for Chelsea.

With the Blues not having a presence of a number nine in front of the Portuguese star, the numbers are not there at the moment. But, if we look at his performances and the prospects of it, he can do well here for years to come. So, it would make sense to make his stay a permanent one as soon as possible.
