According to Mundo Deportivo (h/t BBC Transfer page), Chelsea are interested in signing Barcelona and Morocco winger Abde Ezzalzouli in the coming summer.
Ezzalzouli, who joined the Barcelona B side in August 2021 before signing an extension with the senior side last summer, is currently on loan at Osasuna.
The 21-year-old Morocco international has played 17 games in all competitions for Osasuna, scoring a goal and assisting two. He has played a total of 763 minutes only, so it is clear he does not start every game for the La Liga side.
Ezzalzouli is a right-footed left winger who can play on the other side as well. If we look at his career stats so far in all competitions, he has seven goals and nine assists in 72 games.
The former Hercules player possesses rapid pace to trouble defenders in wide areas. He is very good at dribbling, can find a pass or two in the final third and has a good shot in him.
The 21-year-old is a young player with a lot of potential to get better. Chelsea have had no hesitation in signing some of the best young players for long contracts in order to amortise their transfer fee and almost have them committed to the club.
They spent £88.5m on left winger Mykhailo Mudryk in the January window, while Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic are still on their books. Although the latter is on the list of players to be sold in the summer, it makes no sense to sign another left winger in the summer.
As talented as Ezzalzouli is, Chelsea’s focus should be to get a top-class striker in the summer. They already have Christopher Nkunku coming who can play either as a number 10 or on the left wing too.
