Barcelona among clubs monitoring struggling Chelsea forward

A summer move for Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be possible after interest from three clubs

Numerous European clubs have seemingly expressed interest in Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and he could move this summer.

Barcelona, AC Milan, and Atletico Madrid have all shown interest in the Gabon international who moved to the Blues from Barcelona just last summer.

All three clubs reportedly want to sign the 31-year-old and could make an offer in the summer transfer window, according to the Daily Mail (h/t Football.London).

The Gabonese centre-forward was signed by Chelsea to solve their scoring conflicts after a successful brief stint at Barcelona.

Aubameyang was expected to prosper under German manager Thomas Tuchel because he had already played for Tuchel at Dortmund, but after the dramatic firing of the former Paris Saint-Germain manager, Aubameyang struggled to score goals under the tutelage of Graham Potter.

He has also continued to be a frustration for the Blues, scoring only once in 11 Premier League games. His dismal performance was made worse by his absence from the Champions League squad this week, which will make him desperate to leave the club.

Furthermore, Potter said the 31-year-old will have to compete for his spot after he appeared sluggish in the league when asked why he was dropped from the Champions League squad.

This indicates that Potter still has faith in the striker and that he still has a season to demonstrate his worth before he can envision leaving. Additionally, Chelsea require a proven forward, as Kai Havertz has not performed effectively in the attacking line.

Chelsea leave out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and four new signings from the Champions League squad.

Aubameyang may still be essential to the Blues this season because we still have a few games left that will determine whether or not we qualify for the Champions League. Ironically, he has been removed from our UEFA Champions League squad this campaign.

More Chelsea News:

We just hope that he receives it and continues to have an influence during his time at Stamford Bridge. The former Arsenal striker needs additional motivation and backing from the coach and teammates in order to operate at his optimum.

We can still get some use out of him until the end of the campaign. After that, we can think about offloading him to any of the three aforementioned clubs – two of which (AC Milan and Barcelona) he has already played for in the past.
