According to the Guardian, Arsenal are keeping track of loaned-out Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi ahead of the summer transfer window.
The England international, who is currently on loan with German side Bayer Leverkusen for the whole of this season, is not expected to stay at Chelsea beyond the summer.
Hudson-Odoi, who has a contract at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2024 (Transfermarkt), has struggled for consistency in his performances in Germany so far. He hasn’t produced enough in the final third.
If we look at the 22-year-old’s numbers this season, he has scored one goal and assisted one in 17 appearances in all competitions. The last time he played more than 60 minutes in a game for Leverkusen was before the World Cup.
That, after making a promising start to his life in German football in the first few weeks. Inconsistency has crept in for him there as well.
Being unable to perform well for a long period of time has been an issue for Hudson-Odoi. He may have a few good games, which would eventually be followed by a period of lull.
But, he is still young though and has time on his side to improve this part of his game. Talent-wise, he has got everything to become a top winger in years to come.
Maybe, a change of scenario could help him reach his maximum potential. Hence, making a move to Arsenal could make sense. Mikel Arteta has proven to be a top coach for bright young players during his time in north London so far. He could work magic with Hudson-Odoi as well.
