In a tweet after the Fulham game, Belle Silva, wife of Chelsea defender Thiago Silva, shared her displeasure at the performance of the team and took aim at her husband’s teammates.
Silva has been vocal about Chelsea’s performances on Twitter recently, especially after a defeat. After bowing out of the FA Cup to Manchester City, when her husband was an unused sub, she posted a cryptic tweet signalling something not good.
As if things were not bad enough for the Blues, they lost the game to Fulham and will miss two more players due to different reasons for the following games. Joao Felix picked up a straight red card and Denis Zakaria hobbled off due to an injury. The irony is those two looked like decent players when they were on the pitch.
While it is frustrating to watch a team full of good players not able to win games, it is not fair for a player’s wife to write something like this. It is not as if her husband has been perfect this season too.
As good a player as Thiago Silva has been for the Blues, he has made mistakes this campaign. So, at the moment, 11 Silvas may still not be enough.
It is a tough time to be a Chelsea fan, but that’s football. Not every season will be rosy. We have seen the changes this club has undergone in the last 6-8 months. It was bound to take some time before the loom started to settle.
Till then, it is only right if the players are backed by the fans, because that’s the least they can do. We have a game against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge coming up. Everyone in the Chelsea camp is hoping for a resurgent performance.
