RB Leipzig are unwilling to sell Chelsea target Josko Gvardiol
Speaking in an interview with Sky Germany as quoted by Football. London, RB Leipzig chief Max Eberl has come out and insisted that the club have absolutely no intention of selling Chelsea target Josko Gvardiol.
Gvardiol has been on the radar of Chelsea for quite some time now. However, the Croatian does not seem to be on his way out of Leipzig and looks set to stay there for some more time.
At least, that’s what Eberl has to say. He says that the negotiations for the renewal of contract for Gvardiol is on track and that the German club do not want to entertain any offers for the 20-year-old.
How much they will stick to his stance when a huge offer is made from a top club remains to be seen. He is likely to attract a huge fee and this price will only keep going down as the contract runs down.
Gvardiol is extremely talented. He set the stage alight in the World Cup where he was easily the best centre-back of the tournament. It remains to be seen how the 20-year-old fares in the Premier League.
Here is what Max Eberl had to say about the prospect of selling Gvardiol, and the Bundesliga club chief quickly shut down all rumours.
“Thanks to the contract extension with Josko, we are in control — the club has done an outstanding job. Football has gone crazy, but our interest is zero that we want to sell Josko Gvardiol in the summer.”
Chelsea might not be keen on a move for Gvardiol as things stand. They have just signed Benoit Badiashile from AS Monaco and have the need for a left-footed defender satisfied.
Gvardiol, though, is highly unlikely to stay at Leipzig for too long. The German club might be firm in their stance that they will not sell him right now but things could change come the summer.

It remains to be seen if Chelsea make a move for Gvardiol then. Regardless, he will not be short of potential suitors if he is on the market.
