Chelsea eye 21-year-old Portuguese international to solve their goalscoring woes

Portuguese star Goncalo Ramos emerges as a striker option for Chelsea

According to 90min (h/t Football. London), Portuguese striker Goncalo Ramos has emerged as an option for Chelsea with the Blues looking to reinforce the striker position with a signing.

Ramos caught the eye during the World Cup in the game against Switzerland where he was brought in for Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and immediately responded by scoring a hattrick.

Since then, many clubs around the World have taken notice of Ramos. He is expected to be courted by a number of top clubs and Chelsea are no different in their interest for a striker.

The number nine position has been a troublesome one for Chelsea for quite some time now. Despite signing a number of players, no one has really made that position their own and that has continued this season.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang showed some promise immediately after being signed but he has fizzled out and does not find him starting under Graham Potter anymore with the English manager preferring Kai Havertz.

Armando Broja is a young striker who Chelsea really trusts but the Albanian is injured right now and will not return until the end of the season. He is not experienced enough to lead the line yet.

This is where the Blues are in the market for a traditional number nine who can be the answer to their long-term striker crisis. They did sign David Datro Fofana recently but the Ivorian is a striker for the future.

Dusan Vlahovic and Victor Osimhen have been touted as possible names but the latest one to be added to the list is Ramos. The Benfica man would be a good acquisition for Chelsea.

More Chelsea News:

Only time will tell if Chelsea’s interest in Ramos is actually serious. If they want him, they must make a move for him and hope that he can be the answer to their striker issues in the present and the future.
