Spanish full-back plays it safe amidst Chelsea transfer interest

Pedro Porro admits being happy at Sporting CP amidst Chelsea links

Speaking to SportTV as quoted by popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Spanish right-back Pedro Porro has revealed being happy at Sporting CP amidst links of a transfer to Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Blues have been linked with a move for the former Manchester City youth star. Porro is identified as the ideal backup to Reece James who has shown that he is very injury prone and cannot be trusted.

London rivals Tottenham are also very keen on signing Porro. He is apparently Antonio Conte’s preferred bet for the right wing-back position but we can flex our financial muscle to outbid Spurs for him.

The problem with Porro though has been the fact that the Portuguese club are adamant that the Spanish youngster can leave only if his release clause is triggered. Spending so much money for a backup is something the Blues are considering.

One thing that we can be sure about Porro is the obvious talent that he possesses. With the right development, he is set to have a huge future in the game and it is only a matter of time before he moves to a top club.

Speaking about his future though, Porro admitted that he was happy at Sporting CP and was focused on his life there.

“I’m not talking about the possibilities on the market — about staying nor about leaving”

Moving to Tottenham and moving to Chelsea could be completely two different prospects for Porro. At N17, he is likely to be a starter and be a part of the playing XI week in week out whilst the same cannot be said about the Blues.

We have one of the best right-backs in the world in Reece James. Unfortunately for us though, the Englishman is really injury prone. When fit though, there are not many options better than him.

Porro at such a young age and with the talent that he has would probably like to move to a club where he is assured regular game time. Especially whilst having that option, he might choose Tottenham over us.

This Porro deal is very interesting. We have not really gone all out to make this happen but we are constantly lingering in the background. It remains to be seen if we are planning a last minute swoop for Porro.
