A View From The Bridge

Newcastle United eyeing January moves for three Chelsea players

Newcastle United want to sign three Chelsea players in the January transfer window

According to the Telegraph, Newcastle United are interested in signing three Chelsea players – Hakim Ziyech, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Conor Gallagher during the January transfer window.

But, Blues manager Graham Potter does not want to lose either Gallagher or Loftus-Cheek due to the team’s mounting injury problems. Ziyech could be allowed to make a move though.

After signing Benoit Badiashile, Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk this month, Chelsea need to cut down on the non-home-grown players to register the new signings in the Champions League squad. For that reason, we could see Ziyech leaving the club.

The report also says that Newcastle are interested in Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay and Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Ruben Neves. While the former is open to a move, the latter won’t be sold by the west Midlands club this month.

There is no doubt that the Magpies’ interest in Gallagher is strong. Their head of recruitment Steve Nickson has been keeping an eye on the England international for some time now.

In this window so far, we have signed three attackers and a defender, along with a midfielder for the youth setup. So, it makes sense why Potter does not want to lose either of his midfielders in the middle of the season.

Moreover, with what Gallagher offered in the win over Crystal Palace on Sunday, the manager may want to give him more game time in the coming weeks. The 24-year-old can offer energy and dynamism to our midfield, something that was lacking in the games in the recent past.

More Chelsea News:

If it is to be that Ziyech leaves now, it is a shame that things did not work out for him at Stamford Bridge. He is an excellent player who never really got settled here. He could do well at a club like Newcastle, who are at the moment ahead of us in the table too.
