Joao Felix gives his first interview after joining Chelsea from Atletico Madrid
Joao Felix joined Chelsea on loan for €11 million, with the club covering the entirety of his salary until the end of this campaign. Chelsea do not have the option of a permanent deal because the player extended his Atletico Madrid contract until 2027.
According to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Felix gave his first words as a Chelsea player. He said:
“Chelsea is one of the great teams in the world and I hope to help the team reach its objectives – I’m very, very happy to be here and very excited to play at Stamford Bridge.”
“Playing with happiness is what I’m about… so I like to get on the ball and I want to make all the fans enjoy my football while helping the team.”
The Atletico Madrid player would create a positive spirit in the games and will undoubtedly have a stronger impact. This is one of the smartest additions the Blues have made.
The 23-year-old would enhance Chelsea’s attacking prowess by contributing goals and assists as Chelsea are attempting to boost its forward line and midfield in the January transfer window.
If Felix performs to the expectations, there would be a significant downside since Chelsea would be unable to offer him a long-term contract considering the Spanish giants have extended his contract until 2027.
Aside from all of this, the former Benfica player has a considerable amount to offer, and Chelsea will rely on him to have an impact on the game. With four goals and three assists in 14 league games, he has proven to be a talented creator as well, and his link-up play is brilliant.
Hopefully, he is able to bring his magic to a different league in different surroundings. English football, after all, isn’t always the easiest league for foreign players to adjust to.

And Felix could be the goalscorer and creative force Chelsea needs. With Christian Pulisic out for the weeks, supporters and the team will be expecting a lot from Felix, especially given our poor goal-scoring form in the league. We have scored the least amount of goals in the top 10 so far.
