Everton midfielder Amadou Onana has rejected a chance to move to Chelsea
According to Evening Standard, Everton midfielder Amadou Onana has rejected a chance to play for Chelsea as he pushed back the initial offer from the Blues.
Although the initial offer is turned down, there is a belief that Chelsea can go back for him with an improved offer. Everton are reluctant to sell the player anyway, having signed him in the previous summer window.
Chelsea have other midfielder targets in mind too. The links with Enzo Fernandez do not go away, while it seems as if the club have cooled their interest in Moises Caicedo following a high asking price from Brighton and Hove Albion.
A recent report from The Telegraph has revealed that the Blues are set to rival Liverpool for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Matheus Nunes.
Despite playing in a bad team, Onana was one of Everton’s best players this season. He is a physically strong player who can impact games in both boxes, passes the ball well, reads the game nicely and has no issues dealing with aerial threats.
Chelsea are in the market for a midfielder following the news that Jorginho is likely to leave the club once his contract expires in the summer. N’Golo Kante’s injury woes don’t seem to relent. Keeping that in mind, the Blues are short in that department.

With less than a week to go before the deadline of the January window, it remains to be seen whether we will go back for Onana with an improved offer. With Caicedo and Fernandez’s deals looking unlikely now, it might not be a bad idea to sign the Belgian in the next few days.
