Chelsea youngster Omari Hutchinson could go out on loan before the January deadline
According to The Athletic (h/t Football.London), young Chelsea forward Omari Hutchinson could be out on loan for the rest of this season before the transfer window deadline.
The former Arsenal youth star has attracted interest from several Championship and European clubs. He held talks with Chelsea’s loan technical coach Carlo Cudicini on 30th January (Monday).
While there is still a possibility that the 19-year-old stays till the end of this season, the club are considering whether he would be better off going somewhere and playing more games to gain valuable experience.
Hutchinson has made a total of two appearances in all competitions for the Chelsea senior team so far, both coming in defeats against Manchester City. For the youth sides, he has six goals and nine assists in 18 appearances (Transfermarkt). So, he is doing everything to catch the eye of Graham Potter.
The former England U-19 international is an attacking midfielder who can operate on the right wing. Having signed him from Arsenal in the summer, Chelsea have not been able to offer him enough first-team minutes.
So, it makes sense for the club and the player to go somewhere on loan for the remaining four months of this campaign. The condition should be that he plays a good chunk of games to gain valuable experience before coming back for the pre-season in the summer.
If he stays put, there is very less chance of him getting much game time here. We have signed Noni Madueke this month, a left-footed winger to potentially replace Hakim Ziyech, who could go to Paris-Saint Germain. As for attacking midfielders, we have Kai Havertz, Joao Felix and Mason Mount as options.
