Report: Chelsea target skips Benfica training ahead of rumoured Stamford Bridge move

Chelsea target Enzo Fernandez skips Benfica training ahead of rumoured move

According to Portuguese outlet Record (h/t Football. London), Chelsea target Enzo Fernandez has dropped a huge hint ahead of his rumoured move to Stamford Bridge by skipping Benfica training.

It has been claimed in the past week or so that the Blues are closing in on a move for the Argentina World Cup winner and that the talented midfielder will be on his way to London very soon.

Although nothing has been officially announced yet, it is expected that it is only a matter of time before the 21-year-old becomes a Chelsea player and his missing training is the biggest hint yet.

Enzo set the stage alight in the recently concluded World Cup in Qatar. He emerged as the ‘Young Player of the Tournament’ due to his performances in the winning run with Argentina.

Chelsea are looking to reinforce their squad for quite some time now and it looks like Enzo is the preferred choice to reinforce in the midfield. He can be a player who will define the Chelsea team for more than a decade to come.

A player missing training is generally an indication of his way of telling that he would like to leave the club. With the number of Chelsea links right now, that’s exactly what Enzo might be doing.

The 21-year-old can be a fresh breath of air in the Blues midfield. The likes of Jorginho and N’golo Kante are not getting any younger and in many ways, Enzo can be the perfect replacement for the Italian.

The Argentinian seems to have a very calm head for such a young player. The maturity he showed in the World Cup was astounding and it remains to be seen if he can do the same in a Blues jersey.

It remains to be seen how Chelsea go about securing Enzo Fernandez. It will not be too difficult with the player’s inclination but let’s see where it goes.
