Chelsea ready to lose Jorginho as focus turns to two other first-team stars

Chelsea ready to lose Jorginho as focus shifts to keeping N’Golo Kante and Mason Mount

According to the Telegraph, Chelsea are braced to lose midfielder Jorginho in the summer as their focus turns to contract extensions of N’Golo Kante and Mason Mount.

The Italy international, who has been at the club since 2018, has his contract expiring at the end of this season (Transfermarkt). The club are not confident that he will sign an extension with them. As per the rules, the 31-year-old can now start talking to foreign clubs to sign a pre-contract agreement ahead of the move in the summer.

On the other hand, N’Golo Kante, who is in the same contractual situation as Jorginho, may yet sign the extension. The club are optimistic this will happen.

Talking about Mount, Chelsea are set to restart their negotiations to make the English sign an extension with them after pausing it during the World Cup.

As part of the report, it was also revealed that Chelsea are looking at a big-money midfield move, either now or in the summer. They are linked with Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo now. It remains to be seen whether we can bring either of them this month.

If it is the farewell of Jorginho in the summer, he would be considered one of the important players in the recent generation of the club.

After struggling to adapt to the Premier League in his first season, the 31-year-old has been very good since then. He was a key part of the success under Thomas Tuchel, capped off with a Champions League win in 2021.

More Chelsea News:

Jorginho was not just a good player, but an excellent leader in that team. His leadership skills were apparent for the national team as well, when Italy lifted the Euros in 2021.

His presence on and off the field will be a big miss for the Blues. We wish him well wherever he goes next.
