Romano confirms Chelsea are yet to have an agreement to sign Noni Madueke.

Chelsea reach agreement to sign PSV Eindhoven’s Noni Madueke for a fee around £30m

According to The Athletic (subscription required), Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign PSV Eindhoven winger Noni Madueke for a fee of around £30m.

The 20-year-old, who was born in London before playing for the Dutch side, is set to travel to west London to complete his move to Chelsea.

If everything goes to plan, this would be the Blues’ sixth signing in the January transfer window. The other five are Andrey Santos, David Datro Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk.

Madueke, who represented Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur at the youth level, moved to the PSV U-17 side in the summer of 2018. He then made his senior debut for the Dutch side in 2020 during the back end of the 2019/20 season.

In 80 appearances in all competitions, he scored 20 goals and assisted 14. He is a right winger who can play as a support striker or as a number nine if required.

In terms of attributes, Madueke possesses a rapid pace and excellent dribbling skills. He is ever-improving in producing the goods in the final third consistently.

With Hakim Ziyech’s in doubt following links with Newcastle United this month, it makes sense why we are signing a rapid left-footed winger.

The other aspect is that the Moroccan international hasn’t had a great time at Chelsea. So, it would be sensible to sell him and then immediately have the replacement ready.

Madueke has all the tools to become a top winger in the future. Chelsea boss Graham Potter likes to work with top young players and develop them.

More Chelsea News:

Let’s hope he does the same with the 20-year-old and the player quickly settles down in such a pressure situation at one of the biggest clubs in Europe. We are seriously investing in youth and it would be a shame if we don’t have a plan and infrastructure in place to help them transition into becoming world-class stars here.
