Chelsea keeping tabs on 25-year-old French international from the Bundesliga

Chelsea are interested in signing French striker Marcus Thuram

According to Football. London, Chelsea are interested in signing talented French striker Marcus Thuram from German side Borussia Monchengladbach.

Son of former French superstar Lillian Thuram, the talented 25-year-old has really impressed in the Bundesliga this season. In 17 games across all competitions, Thuram has scored 13 goals and provided four assists.

Chelsea have been on the hunt for a striker for quite some time now. Thuram is not the typical number nine but he can very comfortably play in that role. He is very pacy and direct in his running.

The talented striker was also a part of Didier Deschamp’s France squad in the Qatar World Cup. He proved to be an important player off the bench and came with some useful cameos.

Thuram is capable of playing anywhere across the forward line. This could be one main reason the Blues are targeting the French youngster but to be fair, they do not really need many reinforcements in attack.

The 25-year-old’s contract with the German club expires in the upcoming summer (Transfermarkt) and he seems to be showing no inclination of renewing his existing deal with Monchengladbach.

Chelsea have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the squad as the natural number nine option whilst they have shown a tendency to play the talented German forward Kai Havertz there too.

Thuram is a completely different player from these two. In terms of profile, he is very close to Raheem Sterling but even then, the Frenchman comes with a completely different skill set that could help Chelsea.

More Chelsea News:

It remains to be seen if the Blues make a move in January or wait for him to become a free agent in the summer. If they want him to come now, they will have to pay a nominal fee to the Bundesliga side and let’s see if they do that.
