Chelsea in ‘direct contact’ with PSV Eindhoven for English forward Noni Madueke
Chelsea are in ‘direct contact’ with Eredivisie outfit PSV Eindhoven for the signing of England U21 international Noni Madueke, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The Blues have made an opening verbal proposal of €30 million for the 20-year-old’s signature. Now, the Stamford Bridge side will continue their discussion with the Dutch club for the right winger.
While PSV are open to parting ways with Madueke, they would like to do so on their own terms. Apart from the youngster, the West London club also have their eyes on Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram.
The 20-year-old spent his youth career in England with Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur. However, the forward subsequently made his way to the Netherlands to develop further.
After making his way through the ranks at the Eredivisie outfit, Madueke has now become a key player for them. The 20-year-old made his first-team debut for the Red and Whites in January 2020 in a 1-1 draw against VVV-Venlo in the league.
In the previous campaign, the youngster featured 35 times in all competitions for PSV. He scored nine goals and provided six assists in total. Injuries have been an issue for the England U21 international. As a result, he has not featured much this season.
Chelsea’s attack has lacked cutting edge under Graham Potter. We signed Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emeirick Aubameyang in the summer of 2022. Unfortunately, the duo have not had a big enough impact in West London.
Other options in the forward line, such as Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic, have also been underwhelming. It remains to be seen how Potter manages to bring the best out of them in the coming months.

For now, the middle of the park and the number nine position evidently need to be reinforced. Madueke is a great prospect who can have a bright future ahead. However, it would be wise for the Stamford Bridge side to bolster other areas before moving for the 20-year-old.
