“Chelsea is in complete disarray”- Blues slammed for their transfer strategy after Joao Felix loan move

Chris Sutton questions Chelsea’s transfer policy after Joao Felix transfer

Acclaimed pundit Chris Sutton has expressed dissatisfaction with Chelsea’s performance and suggested that the Blues’ transfer policy should be altered. He made these comments after we signed Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid.

There are, of course, exceptions but you hardly see a club of our stature having to make six-month loan deals to address our problems on the field. The former Blues striker spoke about Chelsea’s activity during the transfer windows under new owner Todd Boehly, and told BBC:

“He’s [Joao Felix[ obviously become available, and he’s a talented player, but I’m not so sure he’s a Graham Potter signing. Chelsea is in complete disarray. They are in a mess, and anyone who’s out there and available at this moment in time, they are trying to buy to improve the team.”

“Since Potter has come in, the team hasn’t progressed. There’s an argument they’ve regressed under him. There are Chelsea fans out there who have run out of patience with Potter.” He needs to get the team playing well and picking up points quickly.”

These comments gain even more relevance after Chelsea’s 1-2 loss to Fulham. Despite making a good impression on his debut, Felix was dismissed for a reckless tackle in the 58th minute. Furthermore, the 23-year-old player will miss three Chelsea matches due to the red card suspension.

Graham Potter looks dejected following the team’s defeat in the Premier League match between Fulham FC.

Following the loss, Potter now has just two victories in his last 10 games in all competitions. Additionally, the 47-year-old is under increasing pressure as fans lose patience with him.

Chelsea have also been criticised for its transfer strategy by Sutto in recent windows. We secured the signings of Raheem Sterling, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurella and Kalidou Koulibaly this summer.

None of them have been overly impressive, apart from maybe Sterling – and even the former Manchester City winger hasn’t been very consistent. Cucurella and Koulibaly have honestly been woeful so far. Auba is yet to find his feet, while Fofana has been sidelined with an injury.

Chelsea’s procedures of the acquisition have been thrown into question under Todd Boehly, as the team has spent £200 million on defenders in recent seasons, and conceding two goals in yesterday’s game, the club has only kept one clean sheet in 13 games.

Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta and Thiago Silva.

And it looks like Chelsea are acquiring players merely for the sake of doing so, which is a concerning sign. The management will need to rethink their strategies, otherwise, the club will ultimately suffer and the supporters will become disgruntled.

There have been backroom changes under Boehly. This has become a season of transition and what initially looked like a well-planned venture is now looking like a strategy to just throw money at our problems and hope that the situation improves.

More Chelsea News:

The Blues should not be scared to sacrifice this season if that is what it takes for the larger good. Be patient, analyse targets, and make decisive decisions in the summer. Of course, no one would want to miss out on top four this campaign, but it could be a small price to pay if this team is to return to its glory days and become a football giant once again for the coming years and even decades.
