“At least two more”- Reliable journo confirms Chelsea are far from done in the January transfer window

Ben Jacobs confirms that Chelsea will do more business in January

As per the tweet from CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, Chelsea are not done yet in the January transfer window with two more signings expected this month.

The Blues have just announced the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk for a deal worth around £88.5m, beating Arsenal in the transfer battle.

Mudryk became the fifth arrival at the club since the start of the January window. David Datro Fofana, Andrey Santos and Benoit Badiashile were signed on permanent deals, while Joao Felix arrived on a loan from Atletico Madrid.

With what Ben has tweeted, it feels like Chelsea still have some unfinished business this month. We know this team lacks legs and quality in midfield. So, if they are looking to sign Moises Caicedo now, it would be a sensible move.

The Ecuador international has been linked with Liverpool recently as well, but given the comments made by Jurgen Klopp on Friday, it does not seem like the Reds are in any position to sign a player in this window.

So, Chelsea would be clever to jump in and pay the premium to sign the midfielder now. He would not only help us for the rest of this season, but for years to come.

As of now, the way the club is running in the market, it does seem like we are watching Football Manager being played in real life. How much of this is sustainable in the long run, remains to be seen.

On the other hand, it is also clear that this team needed investment in almost every department. We have seen forwards and a defender signed this month. Adding a midfielder of Caicedo’s quality would be the icing on the cake.

Moreover, once these businesses are done, the pressure will understandably ramp up on Graham Potter to produce the results. He cannot have any complaints about the lack of backing from the owners.
