New RB Leipzig sporting director Max Eberl has issued a fresh verdict on the future of Chelsea transfer target Christopher Nkunku.
The Blues are willing to pay Nkunku’s 52million Pound release clause. According to Football.London, Chelsea have signed a pre-contract agreement with the France international ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.
Now, Eberl has admitted that something could be brewing with regard to Nkunku’s future at the Red Bull Arena. He recently said:
“With Christo, I can’t confirm anything yet. There is a lot of interest and a lot of talk with us. Accordingly, something is looming.”
The Blues fans would certainly love to have a proven goal-scorer like Nkunku in the team. The former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) player has scored 32 goals and provided 17 assists in 49 Bundesliga games since the start of the 2021-22 season.
Chelsea’s issues up front are there for all to see. We signed Timo Werner from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2020… but that didn’t work out and he’s back in Germany, playing alongside Nkunku.
Romelu Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge next summer but he was sent back to Inter Milan on loan after an underwhelming season under manager Thomas Tuchel. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a smart signing but the Gabon international is clearly not a long-term striker for this club.
Nkunku, 25, is ideal. He is playing in the prime of his career and is versatile enough to play literally anywhere across the attack and midfielder. Hopefully, the claims are true and we’ve already secured his signature.
Chelsea and Arsenal are snubbing an English left winger who is currently playing for Borussia Dortmund in Germany.
It has been reported that Chelsea have dispatched their scout in pursuit of the German attacker Francis Onyeka.
