Juventus are eyeing a move for Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy
According to TuttoJuve (h/t Football.London), Serie A giants Juventus are considering making a move for Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
The report further states that the Old Lady are looking at adding a new goalkeeper to their ranks before the start of the next season. They currently have Poland’s 32-year-old Wojciech Szczesny, Mattia Perin, and Carlo Pinsoglio in their ranks.
Mendy was signed by Chelsea in 2020 under the management of Frank Lampard. From then till the latter half of last season, the Senegal international was one of the best keepers in Europe.
However, things have not been the same for the 30-year-old since April 2022. He ended last season on an underwhelming note and started term this in the same manner. The mistake against Leeds United where he dwelled on the ball for far too long despite having options to pass to summed up his confidence levels.
Mendy picked up an injury against West Ham United and got replaced by Kepa Arrizabalaga under Graham Potter even after returning to fitness.
The 2022 AFCON started the World Cup in a horror fashion with two mistakes leading to two goals for the Netherlands. He recovered well after that though, with a world-class performance against Qatar and a decent showing against Ecuador.
The former Rennes keeper still has a contract at Stamford Bridge till 2025 (Transfermarkt). However, in the last few days, it was reported in Metro that Chelsea are considering selling both him and Kepa in the summer window.
If we look at his form in the last six or seven months, it is justifiable as to why Potter does not have confidence in him. But, we have seen how he was not long ago as well.

So, if the club has an option of keeping one from Kepa or Mendy, the latter has more credits in the bank to stay put here. That only if he wants to stay here because there have been reports of him considering leaving the club due to concerns over his place in the team (Daily Mail).
