Borussia Dortmund offer to triple the wages of teenage Chelsea target

Borussia Dortmund to triple the wages of Youssoufa Moukoko to fend off Chelsea interest

According to German outlet Bild (h/t Football.London), Borussia Dortmund are thought to have offered triple the wages of Youssoufa Moukoko to fend off the interest from Chelsea.

Dortmund chiefs Hans-Joachim Watzke and Sebastian Kehl have made a final offer of around €6m, but they think it might not be enough. Wages around €7m could well be enough though, depending on the stance of Moukoko’s camp.

After the season-ending injury to young striker Armando Broja last week during the friendly against Aston Villa, Evening Standard reported that the Blues are looking to sign the German international, whose current contract expires in the summer (Transfermarkt).

Moukoko was part of the national team squad that bowed out of the World Cup in the group stage. He only made one appearance off the bench in the defeat against Japan.

The 18-year-old was a Dortmund academy product, who has gotten into the senior team on a regular from the start of this season. He has scored six goals and assisted four in 14 league appearances so far.

Moukoko possesses great potential and has already shown some of that in the last few months. He has great pace, is good at finishing, can drop deep to create chances and is very good at finding space in the opposition box.

Chelsea’s current number nine options, irrespective of the injury to Broja are short on goals and form. They are close to unveiling young striker David Datro Fofana from Molde, but more is needed in that department. Relying on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kai Havertz for the rest of this season could be risky.

More Chelsea News:

If Dortmund cannot convince Moukoko to stay beyond this season, we should step in and sign him in January itself. He is a player of top quality and can offer longevity because of his age.
