Denzel Dumfries’ agent makes comment on the player’s market value with Chelsea interested
Speaking to Sky Sports Italy, via Fabrizio Romano (h/t Football.London), Chelsea target Denzel Dumfries’ agent – Rafaela Pimenta has dropped a massive hint regarding the player’s near-distant future.
Dumfries has been linked with Chelsea and London rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Inter Milan have set a price tag of around £50m if they are to let the Dutch international leave San Siro (Football.London).
Although the Nerazzurri are not inclined towards selling the player, their current financial situation would demand the sale to get some cash in the bank.
Here’s what Pimenta said regarding Dumfries’ future and market value (h/t Football.London):
“I hope his value doesn’t increase — otherwise it will be difficult to transfer him.”
It perhaps makes sense for him to say this considering the transfer fees paid for a player are majorly for the clubs, not the agents. Pimenta would perhaps want the valuation to be low so that more clubs are attracted towards signing him.
The more money they save in transfer fees, the more they have to invest in potential agent fees, signing-on bonuses, and wages.
Dumfries is currently playing for the Netherlands in the World Cup. He is preparing to face Lionel Messi and Argentina in the quarter-final on Friday (December 9th) after starring with two assists and a goal in the last-16 tie against the USA.
The 26-year-old former PSV Eindhoven wing-back has a contract with Inter until the summer of 2025 (Transfermarkt). He has been linked with Everton and Manchester United before.
Chelsea have expressed their desire to sign him as a support man to Reece James because they are worried at the number of injuries the Englishman has picked up in the last 12 months.
Dumfries’ playing style is quite similar to James’. The Dutchman is great going forward and also has the defensive nous to deal with tricky wingers. We would love to see him in a Chelsea shirt.

Manager Graham Potter may play James as a right-sided centre-back and Dumfries ahead of him as a wing-back. There would be options aplenty.
