Kevin Campbell believes Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount could try his luck at Manchester City or Liverpool
Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell believes that Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount could “try his luck” elsewhere. This comes after the Blues and the player have been locked in negotiations but to no avail.
Mount sees his current contract expire in 2024. The 23-year-old turned down a seven-year offer earlier, leaving the two parties locked in negotiations. Liverpool and Juventus are believed to be interested in the England international.
Now, former Gooner striker Campbell, while speaking on Football Insider (h/t Express) believes that the young midfielder could be tempted to ply his trade elsewhere if he is not offered the contract he wants.
“Mount has outplayed his contract. He’s won the Champions League and done very well at Chelsea. If they’re not offering the type of contract he wants, he might be tempted to try his luck somewhere else – like a Liverpool or a Man City.”
“He might have been disappointed by that offer. Normally you don’t see too many negotiations with players like him, it’s just a case of getting him signed up.”
It was earlier reported that the midfielder wishes to be amongst the highest earners at the club like Raheem Sterling who is at £300,000-a-week at the west London club. And he is not wrong in demanding to be so.
The midfielder has been one of our best players ever since breaking into the first-team squad in 2019. Since then, he has played crucial roles in helping the club achieve success, and played an important role during our Champions League winning season in 2021.
While this season he got off to a rocky start, the midfielder seemed to have found his form during the last few weeks of the first half of the season. Mount’s contribution to the team is something that cannot be shown on the stats, but without him, those stats would not likely exist in the first place.
Mount has been important for Graham Potter so far and is likely to play even more crucial roles during the second half of the season. With rival clubs lurking around to grab hold of the player, it will be wise for the Blues to agree to a new deal with the player as soon as possible.

The midfielder is currently in Qatar for the World Cup. Negotiations between the two parties will hopefully resume after the tournament ends and fans will hope that the player signing a new deal is their Christmas gift this year.
