According to Sport via Goal (h/t Football.London), Chelsea are eyeing up a potential swap deal with Bayern Munich that involves Christian Pulisic going back to Germany and Kingsley Coman coming to west London.
Pulisic’s future at Stamford Bridge has been uncertain for a long time now. In the last few weeks, Daily Mail reported that Premier League trio Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle United are interested in signing him. The report further revealed that the Blues would agree on a deal for a fee of around £35m.
Following on from that, it was indicated that both Pulisic and Chelsea want a permanent transfer to take place to part ways instead of a loan move (Daily Mail).
The USMNT international was a star man for his national team’s progress to the last-16 stage of the World Cup. Out of the four goals they scored in the tournament before bowing out after losing to the Netherlands, Pulisic had a hand in three of them (one goal and two assists).
Despite his impressive displays in Qatar, Chelsea are not willing to change their minds regarding the 24-year-old’s future. They now would hope to get Coman in exchange for Pulisic.
Coman is an exciting player who can play on either side of the wing. The French international, who is part of the World Cup but comes on from the bench in most games, has been excellent for Bayern ever since he signed for them from Paris Saint-Germain.
The 26-year-old had one goal and four assists in nine league games during the first half of this season. His contract at the Allianz Arena runs until the summer of 2027 (Transfermarkt).
Whether Bayern would let him go in exchange for Pulisic is an interesting question. The latter had a good record in Germany before moving to England and not really cutting it there.
His performance in the World Cup has shown us that the player has all the qualities needed to succeed on the elite stage. For Chelsea though, it could be a fantastic swap deal as Coman can add more to our forward line compared to what Pulisic gave.
Chelsea and Arsenal are snubbing an English left winger who is currently playing for Borussia Dortmund in Germany.
It has been reported that Chelsea have dispatched their scout in pursuit of the German attacker Francis Onyeka.
