According to Daily Mail, Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has been sidelined for a few weeks after picking up an injury during the friendly against Brentford.
The Blues played the Bees in a behind-closed-doors friendly to tune themselves up for the resumption of the Premier League. Fofana limped off due to a suspected knee injury.
Although he would be out for a few weeks, the injury is not as serious as the one he picked up in the AC Milan game in October which made him miss the chance to feature in the World Cup.
Irrespective of that, it must have been disappointing for the player, who was part of the team’s mid-season training camp in Abu Dhabi to accelerate his process of coming back. This new setback would have jolted his spirits to an extent.
Since his big-money move to Chelsea from Leicester City in the summer window, Fofana has managed to play only six games so far.
In his absence, Trevoh Chalobah took advantage of the situation and had a good run of games to show how good he is. With this new injury to the Frenchman, the Englishman could get another go at showing his prowess at the back.
