Chelsea are still in the race to sign Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha
According to 90min (h/t Football.London), Chelsea are still in the race to sign Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha. French side Marseille will also make a move for him.
Zaha was linked with the Blues during the summer transfer window, but a move did not materialise. His contract at Selhurst Park expires at the end of this season (Transfermarkt), with no agreement on an extension yet. A few weeks ago, it was reported that the Ivory Coast forward rejected a new contract offer from Palace (Daily Mail).
While Marseille are waiting for his contract to expire to chase his signature, Chelsea are also in a similar position. The 30-year-old has been in great form for Palace this season.
Zaha has always been a talisman at Crystal Palace. His consistent performances are the reason why most top clubs, including Chelsea are linked with him in every transfer window.
Since the start of last season till the World Cup break of this, the former Manchester United forward has scored 20 goals and assisted three in 46 league appearances. Those are incredible returns for a player operating in a team that struggles for goals.
Chelsea have lacked a player who can score goals from wide areas. To be honest, even our centre-forwards aren’t doing any better either. So, it makes sense as to why the club is still hovering around the possibility of signing the former Manchester United winger.
The 30-year-old is an experienced forward who can play in any position across the forward line and have a similar impact. He has an abundance of pace, is great with his dribbling, and can create chances and score goals at a good rate.
The coming summer could well be his last chance to secure a move to a bigger club (with all due respect to Crystal Palace). Chelsea could make good use of him in the forward line.

We are close to losing to fringe players Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic soon. Zaha would not just be a replacement, but a potential upgrade to them. He is versatile enough to cover multiple positions and is incredibly experienced when it comes to playing in the Premier League.
