Chelsea are exploring the possibility of signing Youssoufa Moukoko
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic (subscription required), Chelsea are exploring the possibility of signing young German and Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko.
Moukoko, who was part of the German squad that got dumped out of the group stage of the World Cup in Qatar, is another one of the shining young stars in the Dortmund side.
He became the youngest player to make a World Cup for the Germans when he came on in the 2-1 defeat to Japan in their opening game.
Moukoko’s contract with Dortmund expires at the end of this season (Transfermarkt), with no agreement on an extension yet.
A move to Chelsea, although not done yet, is definitely a possibility. Other Premier League clubs are also in the race. The Blues are potentially in a desperate situation to sign a striker after Armando Broja picked up a serious knee injury during the friendly against Aston Villa on Sunday (December 11).
Chelsea have done the groundwork to complete the signature of Moukoko in the summer, though the current situation may force it to prepone that deal for January.
The 18-year-old is predominantly a striker who can operate on the right wing if required. The first half of the season for Dortmund was the first time he started games on a regular basis.
In 22 appearances in all competitions in that period, he scored six goals and assisted six. He is a powerful young striker who possesses an abundance of pace, is clever at finding space in the opposition box and has the game to drop deep and link-up play as well.
He may not be the complete package yet (but who is at the age of 18?), but Moukoko has the skills and now the experience to be a good addition to a Chelsea team that has struggled for goals and ingenuity from their forward line.

Graham Potter likes working with top young players. The German is definitely in that category and more. We would love to see this deal taking place in January though after seeing what happened to Armando Broja.
