Chelsea and Liverpool are interested in Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea and Liverpool are interested in signing Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo with formal talks yet to take place.
Caicedo, who was part of the Ecuadorian side that bowed out of the World Cup in the group stage, had an excellent tournament irrespective of his nation’s disappointing early exit.
The 21-year-old has been on both Chelsea and Liverpool’s radar for some time now. A few weeks ago, Brighton slapped a price tag of €70m if any club is to sign their impressive midfielder.
As per the latest report, the Seagulls have no intention of parting ways with Caicedo, and are under no pressure to sell him as his current contract at the Amex stadium runs until the summer of 2025 (Transfermarkt). But, we never know, if either of the chasing clubs pays a premium price, the deal could yet happen.
The Ecuador international has been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League this season. He is a versatile player who can operate both as a box-to-box midfielder and as a defensive midfielder.
He is both a destroyer of opposition attacks and can make good use of the ball to start attacks for the team. All in all, the 21-year-old is a dynamic presence in the middle of the field.
We know Graham Potter was the Brighton manager when they signed Caicedo. Now, the boss is managing Chelsea. Can he use his influence to sign the Ecuador star for the Blues? It is surely a possibility.
He is young and can only get better. Those who have watched him play would know just how mature he is for his age on the football pitch when it comes to his playing ability.
We are in a situation where two of our senior midfielders- N’Golo Kante and Jorginho are having their contracts expiring in the summer. The former is vehemently linked with a move to Barcelona.

So, the need to add bodies of high quality in the central midfield department is apparent. Caicedo can add that extra bit of quality with energy that can upgrade the level of what the Blues can produce in that department. We have seen them looking stale in that area this season.
