Barcelona to opt against making a move for 18-year-old Chelsea target in January

Barcelona will not bid in January for Chelsea target Youssoufa Moukoko

According to Footballtransfers (h/t Football. London), Barcelona will not bid for Chelsea target Youssoufa Moukoko in January due to their precarious financial position and will drop out of the race if he moves in the winter window.

Chelsea and Barcelona are amongst the clubs interested in signing the Dortmund man with the 18-year-old’s future in Germany not really certain. Moukoko could leave at the end of this season as a free agent.

Manchester United and Liverpool are also linked with a move for the talented striker. Moukoko has shown great promise in his short career till now and he could have a huge future in the game.

If Dortmund realises that the German starlet might not commit his long-term future to them, they could choose to part ways with Moukoko in January in the event of which all these clubs will be on high alert.

However, the German club might choose to sell him only if the buying club matches their asking price. Dortmund are not a club strapped for money and have shown in the past that they can be rather stubborn about their stance.

That said, Chelsea will be licking their lips at the fact that Barcelona will not be in the race for Moukoko if he is available in January. The Spanish club have been a real thorn for the Blues in the past.

However, Chelsea will know that even if Barcelona are not in the mix, the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool are not going to make life any easier for them. They will have to be flawless in their negotiations.

The former in particular are in need of a striker due to the sudden exit of Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Moukoko would be a perfect option for Ten Hag for the present and the future.
