Report: Chelsea’s stance on Graham Potter amidst fans ‘losing patience’ due to poor results

Graham Potter has full support from Chelsea board amidst sack calls from fans

According to the Athletic, Graham Potter has the full backing of the Chelsea board and will continue as the manager of the Blues despite calls from the fans to sack the former Brighton manager following the club’s poor displays in recent weeks.

Potter’s honeymoon period as a Chelsea manager seems to be over. After being unbeaten in his first nine matches as the Blues boss, his side have had an absolutely torrid time. Potter has lost his last three Premier League games and Chelsea look like a dysfunctional team.

It is still very new for Potter in his role as Blues boss. He joined after the season had started and has not really had time to work with the squad. Although the start to his managerial career was superb, the good feelings quickly evaporated and a reality check ensued.

Chelsea fans are not happy with what they are seeing from Potter. They made their feelings pretty well known in the game against Newcastle United where there were calls for the Blues to sack the former Brighton manager just months after appointing him.

It would have been a sad state for Potter to be in with the English manager not experiencing this kind of wrath during his time at Brighton. He was adored by the Seagulls fans at the Amex stadium and there is no doubt he will be feeling the heat right now.

However, it has emerged that the English manager has the complete backing of the Blues board and will be given time to prove his quality. It will come as a welcome boost to Potter who would have been under a lot of pressure to turn things around.

The international break could not have come at a better time for Potter. It is up to him now to work with the squad, whoever is not going to the World Cup and instil his ideas into the team. Chelsea will need to perform better when they return in December.

The fans need to give Potter some time. He is still very nascent in his job at Stamford Bridge and as we have seen with Brighton, he can make the team play some very attractive football if he can be given some time to work with the whole squad.

Constant chopping and changing is not the solution to Chelsea’s success. They need to trust Potter to turn this around and wait before making a decision on his future.
