A View From The Bridge

“Everybody says the same”- Jorginho gives verdict on being at Chelsea amidst fast-expiring contract

Jorginho gives his verdict on his Chelsea future amid expiring contract

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has revealed that he is ‘happy’ at the club, despite an uncertain future. The 30-year-old sees his current contract expire next summer.

The Italian international was heavily linked with a move from west London this summer. Nothing came off such rumours, though the player is yet to pen a new deal with the club.

If he fails to do so, the midfielder will be free to open talks with foreign clubs for a pre-contract agreement. According to the Evening Standard, Barcelona are also interested in the midfielder.

But now the player has provided a very positive update. Speaking to the 5th Stand (h/t Football. London), the 30-year-old has insisted that he is ‘happy’ at the club and is enjoying life in west London.

“I’m very happy at the moment we’re all very focused on what we need to do. I’m enjoying life here. I’m enjoying working with everyone and I think everybody says the same thing. It’s enjoyable to be at Chelsea.”

This will come as good news to Graham Potter and the Chelsea management. The midfielder has been crucial for us this season with the midfielder playing in 16 games this season in all competitions.

He has also stepped up in the absence of N’Golo Kante, who also sees his contract expire next summer. The Frenchman has not featured for the club since August and is likely to return back to action after the World Cup.

It will be wise for the Blues to offer the midfielder a new contract. He has been decisive for us over the years and despite being on the wrong side of 30, the Italian is still going strong. A short contract of two years could be the best possible deal for the club and the player.

More Chelsea News:

Jorginho was on the bench for the last game against Brighton & Hove Albion, in which his side was thrashed 4-1. The Italian is likely to return to the fold when the Blues take on Dinamo Zagreb later tonight for their final group-stage game of the Champions League.
