“I’d be amazed”- Ex-USMNT star gives verdict on Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic potentially playing for Real Madrid

Former USMNT striker gives verdict on Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic and him potentially playing for Real Madrid

Speaking to Offers.Bet (h/t Football.London), former USMNT striker Freddy Adu shared his views on Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic and whether the player can play for Real Madrid in the future.

Pulisic has not been able to make an impact since arriving in west London in the summer of 2019. Under either manager at Chelsea so far, the American international has struggled for regular game time as well.

In the World Cup year where the 24-year-old is expected to do well for his country and lead them deep in the tournament, he has only played just over 600 minutes of club football in the first half of the season. With regards to having rhythm, the player has very little of it going to Qatar.

Talking about his lack of game time and potential to play for Real Madrid in the future, here’s Adu (h/t Football.London):

“He hasn’t had a lot of chances with Chelsea. Recently there hasn’t been a massive amount of US players have gotten to play consistently in the Premier League. If Pulisic gets consistent game time and is a regular starter, his game will go a whole new level. Training is one thing, but playing matches is what sharpens your game and takes your game to the next level.

“I’d be amazed if he was the first US player to play at Real Madrid. When you think of Madrid it’s the biggest club in the world to a lot of people. He’s good enough, he’s talented enough, it’s just a matter of getting that playing time and once he gets it, he needs to take advantage of it.”

Pulisic has been linked with a move away from Chelsea in and since the summer transfer window. His game time has never taken an upturn even when the Blues have changed managers.

The 24-year-old is still a good player though, he has not been able to get enough chances at a club to showcase his talent. Moreover, injuries haven’t helped his cause at times.

Christian Pulisic has found playing time hard to come by at Chelsea.

If a good offer comes, Chelsea would be right to let him go. His contract with the Blues lasts till the summer of 2024 (Transfermarkt). If he has a good World Cup, the club may have an upper hand in terms of extracting a greater value in the player sale.

More Chelsea News:

For Pulisic, he is young enough to move elsewhere and kind of restart his career for the better. He would need to add consistency to his game that would allow managers to pick him in every game. Talent-wise, he has everything in his locker to be a fantastic winger/forward in years to come.
