“He sneaked off”- David Seaman tears into Chelsea ace following Arsenal stinker

David Seaman calls out Chelsea Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for going missing against Arsenal

Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has criticised Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for his performance against his old side. The Blues were defeated 1-0 at home by the Gooners last week.

The Gabon international started the game for Graham Potter’s side but failed to prove himself to be a danger to the visiting side’s defence. He was ultimately taken off in the 64th minute for young striker Armando Broja.

Now, the former Arsenal goalkeeper has torn into the striker for his performance against the north London side. Speaking on Seaman says (h/t The Mirror), the former player gave his criticism.

“The Aubameyang situation… his last season at Arsenal is exactly what it’s like now [at Chelsea]. The fact that Barcelona let him go tells you everything. I’m not surprised [he is struggling]. I’m not surprised the way he is playing. That’s what he been like for quite a while now. He does it in flashes, he doesn’t do it for long enough. The only disappointing this about the weekend is that when Arsenal scored, he sneaked off. I wanted the Arsenal fans to proper boo him.”

Aubameyang signed for the west London side on deadline day from Barcelona this summer. While he has been a regular for the club, the 33-year-old has struggled in front of goal this season.

The Gabon international has played 12 games for the Blues so far this season in all competitions and has managed to score only three goals in the process. The striker has not scored in his last five league appearances for the club.

He was way below his game against Arsenal last week. Such a poor form could become a concern for Potter, who has seen his side lose their last three games in all competitions.

But he alone is not at fault. The entire team has been poor this past couple of games and if they do not improve their performance, they could have a very long and enduring second half to this season.

More Chelsea News:

Chelsea will travel to face Newcastle United for their final league game before the World Cup break later today. A win will do them the world of good and it remains to be seen if Aubameyang starts the game and gets on the scoresheet.
