“I’m half the player”- Chelsea star humbled by N’Golo Kante comparisons

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher feels humbled by comparisons to N’Golo Kante

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is humbled by comparisons to team-mate N’Golo Kante. Former manager Thomas Tuchel believes that the England international had many of the same attributes as the Frenchman.

Speaking to reporters in Qatar as quoted in the Evening Standard, the Blues midfielder had nothing but praise for the Frenchman and remained humbled by such comparisons.

“It’s obviously a massive compliment, even if I’m half the player Kante is because I feel like he’s the best midfielder in the world, probably still now when he’s fit. We are obviously different players. He probably gets around a bit more than me, he’s a bit sharper than me. So yeah, we’re different players.”

Kante has struggled to stay fit this season. The 31-year-old has only featured twice for the Blues this season, with his last match being the 2-2 draw at home against Tottenham Hotspur, back in August.

The injury has also led the midfielder to miss the World Cup this year, after he played a crucial part in helping them win it the last time. On the other hand, things have been good for Gallagher.

He seems to be improving his game every day and although he is not a regular, he does not look far from being one. The 22-year-old has played in 18 games for the Blues this season in all competitions, scoring and assisting one in the process.

Such improvement of his has not gone unnoticed, with the midfielder being included by Gareth Southgate in the England national team for the World Cup. This will be his first tournament and the Cobham graduate will look to impress with the world watching.

More Chelsea News:

While Gallagher is not likely to be a first-team player, he has all qualities to change the game from the bench. The 22-year-old will hope to do his part in Qatar and return back to west London with the World Cup to his name.
